Blue Star Mother's Day is celebrated officially on February 1st. This day recognizes the sacrifices of all of the mothers made for their children serving in the military whether active, veteran or reservist. February 1st 1942 is also the anniversary date when the first gathering of Blue Star Mothers took place in Flint, Michigan. More than 600 mothers gathered and formed the Blue Star Mother's of America, Inc. That same year 9 chapters were formed.
